Merle Locke Oglala Lakota Artist

Fine Art Print - Antique Ledger #199 - Great Deeds

$ 45.00 $ 60.00

Seven Fires is pleased to offer for sale this excellent example of traditional Ledger Art by noted Lakota Artist Merle Locke!

#199 ~ Great Deeds

This ink and acrylic on antique ledger paper, signed Merle Locke OLA and dated 2017, is a beautiful and charming example of traditional Native American ledger art. Approximately 14.5"x6".

Prints: This painting is available in a limited-edition, high-quality giclee print on archival fine art paper. Unframed. Framing is available.

Locke honors the memories of his ancestors by using ledger paper dated October 1898 from a Black Hills grocery store, a time and place so significant in Sioux history. Native artists have used ledger paper since that time, making it part of the Native Art tradition.

Buy more than one! These little treasures look even more beautiful when grouped together!

Mr. Locke is one of the most recognized Oglala Lakota artists working today! Watch a video of Merle discussing his art.
