Lakota Commitment

Prints: This original painting has been sold. This piece is available in a limited-edition, high-quality giclee print on archival fine art paper.

The original ink and acrylic on antique ledger paper, signed Merle Locke OLA and dated 2015, is a beautiful and charming example of traditional Native American ledger art. Approximately 14.5" x 6" with 1" border.

Prints are unframed. Framing using acid-free materials including acid-free materials is available; please inquire.

Locke uses ledger paper #566 dated April 1899 from a Black Hills grocery store as a reminder of that terrible time in Native American history. Native artists have continued to use ledger paper, making it part of the tradition.

A couple in fancy dress stand resolutely on the Pine Ridge landscape. Four circling dragonflies, two eagles and a medicine wheel with feathers highlight this piece.

Buy more than one! These little treasures look even more beautiful when grouped together!
