The original ink and acrylic on antique ledger paper, signed Merle Locke OLA and dated 2015, is a fantastic example of traditional Native American ledger art. Approximately 14.5"x6".

Locke honors the memory of his elders with ledger paper dated December 1899 from a Black Hills grocery store. Native artists have continued to use ledger paper, making it part of the tradition.

In this example from his iconic Horse and Rider series, Locke depicts a confident chief on an especially beautiful grey horse.
