Carved Cottonwood Mother's Love 12"
Cottonwood Carving čháŋ kaskú by Leonard Yellow Horse.
Second in his Mother's series this year; a new idea from Leonard Yellow Horse. A very special piece.
The contour and unique characteristics of each piece of wood dictate the form. Mr Yellow Horse tells us these people already reside in the wood and he simply finds them and brings them out. The cottonwood is sourced from dry riverbeds on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The bottom is signed and dated 2021 and with the artist's signature eagle logo on the back. Hand carved with details added using dremel and torch tools and acrylic paint.
12" high x 5" diameter
Signed, original, unique Oglala Lakota Sioux Native American cottonwood carving.
